‘Absolutely compelling gives a real insight into the Turkish way of life versus the western way of life ….. Such an eye opener brilliant read loved it ……….’
‘What an engaging sequel to ‘Seeing the Truth’, a great debut novel by Faye Rogan about love across the cultural divide. If you love Turkey and like a good romance (with a hearty dollop of realism), you will love this book. Not only will you gain fascinating insights into Turkish life and culture, you will also encounter a funny, feisty heroine, a fickle heartbreaker and a huge dose of Turkish sunshine.’
‘I started reading this book and did not want to put it down . I read it lying by a pool in Dalyan which is mentioned in the book. This is the second book written by Faye, the first one was brilliant , this one was better again . Read them both you certainly won’t be disappointed . It was fascinating to read about the differences between British and Turkish cultures.’
‘This is a sequel that needed to be written. Seeing The Truth left me wanting to know more – always a good way to finish. But the real joy here was to see the insight and pearls of wisdom acquired on this journey – useful to us all at some point.’

Seeing the Truth, Faye Rogan
While on holiday in Marmaris, Kaye Knowles, meets Vedat Erdem, a Kurdish cotton farmer from the south east of Turkey. Their holiday romance soon becomes an all-consuming love affair. Blinded by love, Kaye struggles with the language barrier, cultural differences and family objections as life takes her on an emotional rollercoaster of joy, heartbreak, hope, and disappointment. As she explores the delights of Turkey, her world comes crashing down when she finds out that their relationship is built on a foundation of lies and deceit.
Seeing the Truth is a compelling story that grips you from the very beginning to the very end. It is a story I was lost in and this is unusual for me as I usually do not read books like this one, however, the above synopsis engrossed me so much that I wanted to read it desperately and read it I did and I loved it! Here is a little bit more about this enchanting novel.
Our novel follows a woman named Kaye Knowles as she is on holiday in Marmaris in Turkey. On her holiday she meets the very handsome Vedat Erdem who is a Kurdish cotton farmer from the south east of Turkey and soon they begin an incredibly passionate love affair that will have readers weak at their knees. Although Kaye is blissfully happy her family are not so much and they object to their relationship because of the language barrier, cultural differences as well as many other things. Kaye knows this too, however, she is blind in love and will not see any of this. Although, Kaye’s relationship soon takes a dark turn and their relationship is not as perfect as it may have first seemed and as our novel progresses lies and deceit come to light and this is where our epic novel begins.
Seeing the Truth is a beautiful examination of holiday romances and ups and downs most new couples experience. I adored how the author explored how cultural differences can affect a relationship. I am British and my husband is American and I still am having to adjust to the cultural differences and how most American people do not seem to understand British humour! My point is that this was an incredible plot avenue for the author to explore and I am glad she did so.
Our author Faye Rogan has written a sweeping tale and it grips the reader from beginning to end. She takes the reader on a long journey through all of Kayes ups and downs, we are taken through Kayes and Vedat’s laughter, despair and heartache. To top this off we are taken on this journey through the beautiful back drop of Turkey and I have to say Rogan has some dense knowledge about the towns and cities in Turkey and her descriptions added another interesting layer to this novel which made me get lost in the novel even more.
Seeing the Truth, in my opinion, is the perfect holiday read especially for women! The descriptions of the Turkish landscape and city are so beautifully written so even if you did not have the chance to travel this year you will still feel as if you are on holiday because Rogan has written some really beautiful scenes of this popular tourist destination that will make you feel as if you are right there!
To summarise my thoughts on this exceptional novel I would say if you love reads about romance and holidays and all things shocking then you will adore this! The author Faye Rogan will floor you with her eloquent writing and plot and she will pull you in straight away with her spell-binding words. This wonderful novel gets Five Stars from me!
